Now that you're ready to participate as a member of The Spectrum community, let's prepare and submit the artwork! Here are the simple steps to follow.
The first step is the most important. A high quality softcopy of the art piece is important to allow us to process them further for preparation to be placed onto merchandise. The best option is of course to use a scanner and have the artwork scanned. Of course we understand that not everyone has immediate access to a scanner, or sometimes art pieces are just simply too large for that (i.e. a huge canvas painting). If this is the case, then take a high quality snapshot instead. Ensure your camera (or smartphone) is set at the highest resolution/quality setting possible. Try and center the artwork within the snapshot's frame as best as possible, so that no parts of it "goes missing" by being out of the resulting photo.
In some instances, we receive fully digitally-created artwork, such as those drawn on a tablet. These are of course the easiest for us to work with once received :)
We fully understand that it may not always be convenient for you to capture the highest quality image. In such cases, we will still receive submissions, but they will unfortunately take longer to process and be ready to be transposed onto merchandise.
While this step is entirely optional, if you or a family member is familiar with graphics editing tools, helping to clean up a scanned image or photograph would greatly help speed up processing and preparation time on our end. Remove blemishes, unwanted marks, or other artifacts (unless they are part of the illustration!). For illustations of "solid objects", removing the background and making the image transparent helps a lot. If an illustation is in the form of a solid square or rectangle, then background removal likely won't apply.
If none of this is doable on your end, that's still okay.
While many artists already do so, The Spectrum is open to everyone - even to those who do not consider themselves (or their children) as "artists" in the commonly perceived sense of the term. When a drawing or illustration isn't named, we will sometimes assign one to it, but may end up being very "bland" or merely "a label", such as "Yellow flower" or "Yellow flower 2". Kind of boring, don't you think? Please don't be shy and give the artwork a suitable name - which can be either descriptive and literal, symbolic, expressive, or even totally random! If the artist has done this already, we'll absolutely work with what's provided!
Provide us with a short write up of the artist (either your child, or yourself where applicable) and share the parts of the journey if you wish - along with hobbies, likes, favourite activities and other personal things that make the artist who he or she truly is. We love sharing positivity, while showing to everyone that those with us at The Spectrum, are just like everybody else! Stories about the artist will provide a deeper connection to the artwork that is featured on merchandise that is being sold, or put on display at the premises of our major clients and partners.
PRIVACY NOTE : We fully understand if a photograph of the artist is not to be shared, or if details within the write up are kept to a bare minimum for privacy and information security purposes. Again, we will work with what's provided.
Send the artwork and write-up to info@esachannel.com.
Please include your mobile contact number so that we can get in touch with you faster if and when the need arises.
That's it!
